Jingle Bells

【明報專訊】Whenever Christmas comes, Christmas music is played everywhere-in shopping malls, department stores, restaurants and schools. Jingle Bells is one of the most popular Christmas songs in the world. It was first published in 1857 under the title of One Horse Open Sleigh. In fact, the song was meant for Thanksgiving Day, but it was subsequently mistaken for a Christmas song. It actually has four verses, but the first is most widely known and sung.

Jingle Bells (First verse)

Dashing through the snow

In a one-horse open sleigh

O'er the fields we go

Laughing all the way

Bells on bobtails ring

Making spirits bright

What fun it is to laugh and sing

A sleighing song tonight!

(chorus)

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way;

Oh! what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.

Jingle bells, jingle bells,

Jingle all the way;

Oh! what fun it is to ride

In a one-horse open sleigh.
