Editorial : Don't Let "Happy HK" Go Sour This Long Weekend
文章日期:2023年4月27日

【明報專訊】As the mainland's Labour Day "Golden Week" holiday approaches, tour operators believe that Hong Kong has the capacity to handle the anticipated influx of around 600,000 mainland tourists because the figure is still a far cry from pre-pandemic levels, while most of these tourists will be self-guided. However, the problem is that local tourism-related industries are generally facing a manpower shortage. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to deal with the tourist influx. Meanwhile, the "Happy Hong Kong" campaign will kick off this weekend with events expected to attract flocks of locals and tourists. For the city's service industries, this Labour Day holiday will be the biggest challenge since Hong Kong returned to normal after the pandemic.
