Editorial:Ongoing controversy about the M+ Museum
文章日期:2021年3月30日

【明報專訊】The collection of the M+ Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) has sparked controversies once again. Since issues such as those regarding the nation and the National Security Law for Hong Kong have been touched on, debates in society are highly charged as they are fraught with the antagonism between the ''yellows'' and the ''blues''. This actually hinders calm, peaceful and matter-of-fact discussion. The WKCD has previously been criticised by different parties for its messy management and the lack of transparency in the procurement policy of the M+ Museum. The real crux of the matter is whether the authorities have seriously learned the lesson and made real progress instead of spending public money unwisely. Since the purpose of the M+ Museum is to promote art development in the city, the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) should elaborate more to the public on the rules of procurement and the value of artworks.
