Editorial : Division in US — warning to HK
文章日期:2017年8月22日

【明報專訊】MANY European places have recently seen one terror attack after the other. Those attacks have caused huge casualties. The US has not emerged unscathed. The latest attack it saw happened in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a man drove a car into a crowd. President Donald Trump's indiscreet remarks about the incident have landed him in hot water. All spears of criticism are now aimed at him. Hate speech has kept growing in the US, as has hate crime. That shows the US is very much divided these days, and people who can't adapt themselves may resort to low means of violent antagonism — may knock others down with an automobile. What may breed hate and violence is hidden in Hong Kong society. If the situation is mishandled, the SAR may see outbreaks as the US has done.
