【明報專訊】HING TAK SCHOOL (HTS, in Tuen Mun) is said to have kept in its register the names of children who had never attended classes there ("shadowy students"). The Professional Teachers' Union (PTU) suspects that it has obtained subsidies by deception in this way with a view to lowering the danger of its closure. We gather the matter has been reported to the police and is now under police investigation. The "shadowy-student storm" may have to do not only with school mismanagement but also with fraudulently making up the number. Those investigating the case (which is an appalling education scandal) ought to go to the bottom of it.
