【明報專訊】THE GOVERNMENT and the MTR Corporation Limited have announced the result of their review of the Fare Adjustment Mechanism. The MTR has promised to lower the fares by 3 per cent for at least six months every year over the coming six-year period, a new arrangement that will replace the existing 10% discount on return trips. The profit-sharing ceiling will be raised from $13 billion to $15 billion. But the formula for the mechanism, its most controversial component, will not be replaced.
