Editorial : Schools' and teachers' responsibility for stopping "HK independence"
「港獨入校」難以避免 校方教師把好這一關

【明報專訊】THE NEW SCHOOL TERM begins in half a month. Judging from the way things are developing, it is now inevitable that discussions about "Hong Kong independence" will spread to secondary schools. Hong Kong's independence would do our city all sorts of harm but not any good. Secondary school students, who are vulnerable to biased information on the matter, are easily misled and likely to fail to recognise the harm "Hong Kong independence" would cause Hong Kong. If schools become a platform for independence ideology, not only students will in all likelihood be ruined, but Hong Kong will also suffer. Schools and teachers must handle the issue in a responsible manner so as not to fail our students or the test of history. Teachers can through discussions and explanations make students understand that Hong Kong's independence is not right or feasible. They should also make students understand Hong Kong's constitutional status so as to prevent them from being led astray.
