【明報專訊】THE FOURTH-ALARM FIRE at a mini-storage facility at Amoycan Industrial Centre was followed in close succession by a third-alarm fire at Cheong Fat Industrial Building in Cheung Sha Wan. They have revealed the problems of totally inadequate fire safety measures and allegedly illegal business activities. To stamp out irregular practices in industrial buildings, the government has announced a number of measures, which include tightening regulations and stiffening penalties on the provision of illegal residential units, most of which are subdivided units. Obviously, the government is determined to do what is right.
