【明報專訊】In a recent trip to Bangkok, I visited public street night markets. Night markets seem to be everywhere in Southeast Asia, providing the public with a leisurely walk, a variety of food stalls making all kinds of interesting foods, as well as, of course, shopping for common goods. I have been to many night markets and usually do not think much of them. I enjoy walking in them, and occasionally would purchase small items like socks, coin purses, threads and needles for mending clothes and small household decorations. They are fun to buy. However, this time in Bangkok, I had other thoughts about these ubiquitous public spaces.
