【明報專訊】MAY 16 has become a special date in the history of China. Fifty years ago today, the Communist Party of China (CPC), at the behest of Mao Zedong, issued the May 16 Circular, the guidance document of the Cultural Revolution. The revolution ultimately became a 10-year disaster which remains etched in the memory of Chinese people for generations, so much so that China - as well as the CPC - is still undecided about whether to turn left or right fifty years on.
