Idiom Magic:吊人胃口;誤導或欺騙人 String someone along

【明報專訊】To string someone along can mean (1) to deliberately (蓄意地) keep someone waiting in a state of uncertainty, or (2) to deceive or mislead someone. Here's an example. "How long must I string Chadwick along before he realises this isn't a real mouse?" Timothy wondered. Here's what Chadwick said, "I'm stringing Timothy along. He thinks I'm really chasing his silly mouse!" "The supervisor strung me along by making me wait three months for an increase in my salary."
