【明報專訊】THE AUDIT COMMISSION has published a report on vacant school premises (VSP). The situation can only be described as messy. Not only have more than a hundred VSP been left vacant, but some have been so for decades. This shows that the education authorities have been neglecting their duties, which has led to a waste of resources. Furthermore, some school sponsoring bodies have refused to return to the government the premises of schools that have been shut down. They have, instead, illicitly allowed other organisations to use them. Some VSP have been returned to the government, but the school sponsoring bodies in question have cut them off from main roads, making things difficult for the government.
