The City Wanderer : Tree fighters

【明報專訊】My biologist friend Ariel has an acutely rational outlook of life, sometimes to the extent of cruelty. Recently, I was very uplifted by a sight I caught on Bonham Road (般咸道). Where four stonewall trees were mercilessly cut down earlier this year, branches were springing from the stump, braving the autumn chill with a vivacity (生機) usually associated with spring. To me, this is a perfect testament to nature's tenacity (頑強), particularly encouraging amid the frequent news of construction projects at the expense of our natural habitats. I tried to share my sense of hopefulness with Ariel.
