【明報專訊】There's an old belief that ostriches (鴕鳥) hide their heads in the sand to avoid anything troublesome (麻煩的、棘手的), thinking if they can't see it, it's not there. Of course this is a myth, but we like using it to describe those who won't face reality. We say they play ostrich. Used here, the word "play" means "to act like" or "to do as". "I must study. I can't play ostrich and think tomorrow's examinations will be easy," Frankie sighed.
