【明報專訊】EXPLOSIONS went off at a warehouse that stored dangerous goods in the Binhai New Area of Tianjin, turning the place into an inferno. The blasts were tremendous, as can be seen from footage on the Internet. Media people who arrived at the scene one after another have recorded footage showing that the explosions and the fire have reduced a vast area to rubble. At least 50 people have been killed in the accident. Seven hundred and one people have been hospitalised, around 70 of whom are critically injured. Many have gone missing. In terms of casualties and the extent of destruction, this is one of the most serious accidents that have happened on the mainland in recent years.
