【明報專訊】THE YUAN having fallen significantly for two consecutive days, questions are being asked as to how far the devaluation will go. The answer to this question lies in the resolution of the Beijing authorities and how the market will accustom itself to the depreciation of the yuan. At this stage, however, it is confirmed that the yuan will not be as strong as it used to be. What is uncertain is the magnitude of the devaluation. As China's economic growth is slowing down, a weaker yuan is set to be the new norm. And since China is the world's second biggest economy, the new norm is going to have severe and widespread repercussions. All the players in the market will have to adapt to the new situation.
