The gov't should be more ambitious in reducing energy consumption
節能取態尚欠積極 政府勿再踟躕不前

【明報專訊】WE can't feel global warming with our hands. But in fact it has never stopped affecting our lives. Early springtime temperatures, for example, have repeatedly neared 30℃ in recent years. The chilliness that used to be typical of the spring is now nowhere to be felt. As for the connections between global warming and extreme weather conditions, one may pale at hearing about them. Since global warming is a matter of life and death for the human race, and since it is caused by emissions, energy conservation and emission reduction are without doubt what we should be working on. We do not think anyone will challenge the goals set in the Energy Saving Plan for Hong Kong's Built Environment 2015~2025+, which the government has recently published. What people are concerned about is only whether the goals are achievable or too conservative. On the face of it, the government is not ambitious enough. It should step up its efforts to conserve energy so as to achieve greater results.
