Sustainability of anti-graft efforts
中紀委海外追緝貪官 須堅持勿三分鐘熱度

【明報專訊】SECRETARY of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Wang Qishan is about to visit the US. He is generally expected to talk with the Americans about apprehending corrupt Chinese officials that have fled to overseas places. This is a new development in the anti-corruption storm that broke out soon after CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping had come to power. As "big tigers" are caught one after the other on the mainland, the spearhead is directed at corrupt officials that have fled overseas. Those people may not have held such high political places as Zhou Yongkang or grabbed as much money as Xu Caihou (who is rumoured to have literally kept tons of cash). However, only if the safety exit is blocked (so that corrupt officials have nowhere to go) can the CPC's anti-corruption effort count as all-rounded and will there be hope of reaping fruits.
