Idiom Magic﹕Come in for stick 接受批評、譴責或懲罰

【明報專訊】In British slang, stick means criticism, punishment or a reprimand (譴責). In this illustration we see little Nigel, who has been outside playing the American game of baseball. It would appear that he is about to come in for stick in Mildred's living room. "I think you have my baseball bat (球棒)," Nigel is saying to Mildred. "Indeed I do. Please come in and get it," Mildred frowned. "I suppose I'm going to come in for stick," Nigel said. "Oh yes, you certainly are," Mildred answered, "and I'm going to begin by demanding that you clean up this mess!"
