Xi Jinping's comments on Occupy movement

【明報專訊】WHENEVER they comment on the nature of the Occupy movement, its organisers take great pains to distance themselves from the idea of a revolution, stressing that such is not what they have initiated and that their movement is aimed at bringing about democratic elections in which Hong Kong people will have a real choice. But their solemn vows have not eased or ended the central government's worry that it may essentially be a revolution. We understand that, at the 4th plenum of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which closed not long ago, President and General Secretary of the CPC Xi Jinping talked about Hong Kong. Though he did not describe the Occupy movement as a "revolution", his perception of it is greatly at variance with its organisers'. That reflects the complexity of the situation in Hong Kong.
