善吠的狗少咬人
文章日期:2014年9月22日

【明報專訊】You know the situation: you are walking down the street and a dog runs toward you and begins to bark ( 吠 ). You are frightened half to death - but then the dog wags his tail and licks ( 舔 ) your hand. When you've recovered from the shock ( 震驚 ), you realise the dog's bark is worse than his bite. People, too, sometimes "bark" (seem angry or upset) ,but in time we learn it's just their manner and they're not really as scary ( 可怕的 ) as they seem. "Don't let Paul's shouting fool you. His bark is worse than his bite."
