【明報專訊】In the sport of boxing, to floor someone means to knock an opponent down (擊倒對手). Most of the time, however, you will hear this idiom used metaphorically, and it means to shock or surprise someone. It's as though the shock or surprise has knocked them down. "Tina was absolutely floored when she failed her driver's test!"
