【明報專訊】THE POLICE have announced at a press conference some persons suspected to have been involved in the attack on former Ming Pao chief editor Kevin Lau have been arrested. On the same occasion, Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang commented on the suspects' motives. He said the police would not rule out any possibility, adding, "There is no direct evidence that the case has to do with journalism." This remark is semantically defensible. However, judging from some interpretations of it, we take the view that the police have as good as played down the possibility of the case being connected with journalism.
