【明報專訊】THE GOVERNMENT is said to have underestimated demand in setting the target of having 470,000 residential units built in the next decade. Even if that is its target, land has yet to be found for putting up 70,000 to 100,000 of them. All should try to come up with new ideas of finding land in the SAR. The land controlled by the People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, which covers 2,751 hectares, should be put to good use. When Hong Kong reverted to Chinese sovereignty, the garrison took over the eighteen barracks and other military facilities in the territory from the British forces, but some of them are not frequently used. It is right thoroughly to consider the possibility of zoning some of their land for development.
