【明報專訊】YESTERDAY (July 1) hundreds of thousands of citizens joined the July 1 march though typhoon signal number three was up and there were occasional squally thunderstorms. Civil Human Rights Front (which organises July 1 protests), the police and some academics have published their respective estimated turnouts. We understand all of them are the highest since 2004. Protesters made many demands, but anyone who is unbiased will agree most of those who took to the street did so to fight for "genuine universal suffrage". That evidences citizens' unswerving determination to pursue democratisation.
