【明報專訊】J.P. Morgan was born on 17 April 1837, in Hartford, Connecticut. After working for his father, he started his own private banking company in 1871, which became J.P. Morgan & Co. His company was so powerful that even the U.S. government looked to the firm for help with the depression (蕭條) of 1895. The government later filed suit against the company over concerns about monopolies.
