【明報專訊】NATIONAL People's Congress Law Committee chairman Qiao Xiaoyang said expressly yesterday that no one opposed to the central government will be allowed to serve as Hong Kong's Chief Executive. While most Hong Kong people are agreed that the Chief Executive should love China and Hong Kong, they cannot agree that this should be used as a pretext for a political screening exercise aimed at removing certain candidates before the election. The Chief Executive election must be fair and open to all voters, which is Hong Kong people's long-held consensus and is also what the central government has promised us. It will be better if, instead of all the present bargaining and bickering between the pro-establishment camp and pro-democracy camp before the upcoming political reform consultation, some concrete reform proposals are put forward as soon as possible for Hong Kong people's discussion and choice.
