【明報專訊】URBAN TAXI FARES were last raised in July 2011, with the flagfall charge raised from $18 to $20. Another fare increase application, made in May last year, met with strong opposition from taxi drivers, and was shelved by the government on the grounds that there was no consensus in the industry. Now taxi operators are again applying for an increase. While taxi drivers' organisations are still opposed to the application in principle, they say they would support it if it would mean an increase to their income.
