【明報專訊】CHIEF Executive-elect Leung Chun-ying yesterday admitted that a glass structure in his house was illegal and immediately had a contractor dismantle it. While this may demonstrate his remarkable crisis management skills and capacity to take resolute action, the explanation he has offered for the illegal structure shows that he is not prepared to frankly acknowledge his mistake. Moreover, as a professional property surveyor, he should have no difficulty identifying unauthorised building works. In fact, after examining the building plans and photographs of the glass structure in question, the three professionals Ming Pao consulted all declared that it must be illegally built. We cannot therefore but suspect that Leung had the glass structure built in the full knowledge that he was violating the law, which is highly regrettable.
