特首選舉要進步 不應較首屆倒退

【明報專訊】HONG KONG is a world city, highly civilised and with sophisticated facilities. However, one hardly knows whether one should ridicule or lament what some considered members of the elite have recently done in connection with the next Chief Executive (CE) election. Not only are those people conservative, but they also appear dim. That is unlike them, who are shrewd in their respective lines of business. Some wish the central government would dissuade certain likely candidates from joining the CE race lest establishmentarians be estranged and their solidarity undermined. This idea is specious. If the central government does as they wish, the next CE election will be worse than the first, which took place fifteen years ago.
