【明報專訊】WHEN Vice-Premier Li Keqiang was in Hong Kong, the police took tighter security measures than they needed to keep the dignitary safe. They caused citizens inconveniences, deprived them of their right to demonstrate, eroded the freedom of the press and impaired Hong Kong University's (HKU's) dignity, much to many HKU students' and teachers' and many citizens' resentment. It is quite clear from the social atmosphere that has persisted in the past few days that the force's improprieties have detracted from the fruit of Mr Li's visit.
