【明報專訊】SOME have said certain arrangements the government made in connection with Vice-Premier Li Keqiang's visit in Hong Kong amounted to violations of human rights and the freedom of speech. Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang has called such comments complete "rubbish". According to him, reporters were invited to cover every function Mr Li attended. However, facts speak louder than words. Reporters were barred from a half of those functions. The footage citizens have seen of them was released by the Information Services Department (ISD). The ISD is a government department. What it makes is propaganda. How can any footage it releases be equated with journalists' coverage? One may say the SAR government has put the clock far back if it looks at the freedom of the press this way. The Chief Secretary for Administration's idea of "rubbish" is worrying "rubbish" that may seriously threaten journalistic freedom. We must say no to him.
