However, last week saw a serious accident on Line 4 of Beijing Subway, which the MTR Corp has invested in and operates. Passengers tumbled down when an upward-going escalator suddenly went downwards. That caused heavy casualties. Shortly afterwards, smoke came out of an escalator of the same model at Mei Foo Station. The incidents have tarnished the image of "Hong Kong management".
