【明報專訊】An outbreak of scarlet fever (猩紅熱), which may be fatal to children under ten, has occurred in Hong Kong. In the first four months of this year, 133 cases of the disease were reported. Scarlet fever is believed to be a complication (併發症) of chickenpox (水痘). One may get infected with it through contact with carriers' respiratory secretions (分泌物), saliva or secretions from the skin. That is why a minor skin injury due to chickenpox may increase the risk of infection with it.
