【明報專訊】The Venice Film Festival is the oldest film festival in the world. It was founded as early as 1932. Held annually in August or September on the Island of Lido in Venice, it is invariably in the limelight.

Taiwan director Ang Lee (李安, above) set a record by winning two Best Film Awards in three years. He won the first with Brokeback Mountain in 2005 and his second with Lust, Caution (《色.戒》) in 2007.

The Leone d'Oro (金獅獎) is the highest award of the festival. It is award to the best picture of the year.
