【明報專訊】Yesterday the Americans observed and celebrated Thanksgiving-a harvest festival of over 400 years old. The first celebration dates back to 1614 when the early settlers on the east coast thanked God for the harvest which enabled them to survive a gruesome winter. In recent decades, apart from the secular festive activities such as shopping and seeing the parades, many families will also partake in charitable events to help the poor and needy.
