【明報專訊】IN the Mid-Autumn night many Kongming lanterns adorned the dark sky in northern New Territories. They added to festivity. Minor accidents have been reported. For example, two fell on two East Rail trains. Therefore, the safety of releasing Kongming lanterns is again a matter of concern. The activity is pregnant with folkloristic and scientific significance. It is very special and very suitable for families. The government must not behave like one who would give up eating for fear of choking. It should designate places where people may release Kongming lanterns and suitably regulate the activity.
