【明報專訊】YESTERDAY in Beijing a Chinese Manufacturers' Association (CMA) delegation met separately with Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Zhou Bo, a Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office. After the meetings, Lam Tai-fai, the legislator that represents the CMA, acknowledged they had told Jia Qinglin that Hong Kong's functional constituencies were of such use that it was unnecessary to abolish them and that they were worried about the impact of rising wages on productivity and the business environment on the mainland. The CMA representatives' views are quite out of keeping with the general trends of national and global economic development.
