【明報專訊】RECENTLY some young protestors and some members of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements in China who have taken part in demonstrations have been prosecuted one after the other. Such prosecutions have been so frequent that one cannot but suspect the authorities have toughened up their control of demonstrations and "settled scores" with protestors. Hong Kong is a place where the law rules, and society does not approve of any clear violations of the law. However, demonstrations are political in nature, and political behaviour should be tackled politically. The authorities cannot avoid being accused of suppressing dissent under the pretence of maintaining law and order if they do not hesitate to have the law on protestors.
