【明報專訊】LAST year HSBC made a net income of US$5.8 billion, up a meagre 2% on 2008 and much smaller than market participants had expected. As it is an international bank, its performance virtually mirrors the global economic situation. Since the financial tsunami broke nearly one and a half years ago, governments have taken extraordinary measures to save the world from depression. However, the global economy's recovery from the devastation has not been trouble-free. There have been relapses. From this perspective, one may say HSBC has achieved reasonable results.
