【明報專訊】Last Friday (15 July), four academics from the University of Hong Kong, including government expert advisors Yuen Kwok-yung and Hung Fan Ngai, wrote an article suggesting that social distancing measures should be relaxed to achieve "hybrid immunity". They also proposed that, as mainland China is maintaining its "dynamic zero-COVID" policy, Hong Kong should give priority to reopening its borders with overseas countries and gradually replace its current measures for arrivals at the airport with a home quarantine rule. Yesterday (21 July), Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau responded to these suggestions, saying that the Hong Kong government's policies cannot be solely based on foreign theories and practices, as the situation of Hong Kong, its population, the vaccination rate and the capacity of the healthcare system also need to be considered at the same time.
