【明報專訊】The "Ante-chamber Meeting" proposed by Chief Executive (CE) John Lee was held for the first time yesterday (13 July). This is a new attempt by the new administration to promote the interactions between the executive and legislative branches of government. It will institutionalise what used to be a private exchange of opinions between government officials and lawmakers. In theory, it enables lawmakers to express their opinions earlier on when policies are in the making so as to avoid finding problems that need to be remedied only after the policies are unveiled. It will take time to determine, however, what the new attempt will achieve in practice.
