【明報專訊】THE fifth wave of the pandemic rages on as case numbers remain at a high level. According to the mathematical model of the CUHK Faculty of Medicine, the daily number of confirmed infections is expected to drop to the level of about 1,000 only by the end of May. It is predicted that this wave of the pandemic will ultimately cause the infection of nearly 5 million people and the death of 7,000 to 9,000 patients, meaning that the death toll from the pandemic will even be double the current level.
