【明報專訊】As my time in Hong Kong comes to an end I have had the honour and privilege of being invited to many dinners hosted by friends, old and new. Because Jenny, my wife, and I do not have a full-time helper we often need to scramble to find child care help during nights when we are both attending a dinner that our two kids are not invited to. When we were living in the United States, this was often not a problem. College-aged babysitters were plentiful and we were lucky to know and have good relationships with a few of them. Hong Kong is different. If you ask a college-aged person here for child care help he or she will invariably assume you are looking for a tutor.
