【明報專訊】When watching Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of facebook, enthusing about the ''metaverse'' in a video complete with 3D cartoon figures interacting with each other on behalf of our real selves, I couldn't help wondering this, ''Has he ever watched Black Mirror?'' If he had, he probably would have come up with better ideas to advertise his vision of a cyber world threatening to take over our physical one. To me — and to most people, judging from the comments for the video — the world depicted by Zuckerberg is every bit as fake, weird and spooky as the Black Mirror universe. Perhaps this is exactly what differentiates big tech magnates from ordinary people. So often their vision of a better world is perceived as dysfunctional or dystopian by people like you and me.
