【明報專訊】Last Wednesday the Legislative Council adopted the Mainland Judgments in Matrimonial and Family Cases (Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement) Bill, which will eliminate and reduce the hassle caused by re-litigation in Hong Kong and mainland China faced by the people concerned. However, the legislation is only an instance of co-operation when the judiciaries of the two regions try to solve a problem, but not taking the initiative to identify an issue. An example of this phenomenon is the requirement of a certificate of absence of marriage record when residents from the two regions want to register their marriages.
