【明報專訊】THE WOUNDS of the COVID-19 pandemic have yet to heal, and yet China has been caught up in a flooding disaster that has swept across 27 province-level divisions. As of last Thursday (July 9) more than 30 million people in Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and Guizhou had been stricken by the floods. 140 people or so had died or gone missing, and 270,000 houses had collapsed or been destroyed. Around 2,700 hectares of agricultural land had become waterlogged, nearly 300 hectares of which had become unable to yield crops, causing direct economic loss of more than 60 billion yuan.
