【明報專訊】Touted as the ''great equaliser'' by some, the coronavirus is doing nothing but highlighting the insidious inequality that's present worldwide. While many are practising social distancing and working from home, millions of workers who earned poverty wages have been sent home without pay. With little access to sick pay and healthcare, the disease is disproportionately affecting the poorest and those who live a hand-to-mouth existence (手停口停). In fact, an additional half a billion people who live on US$5.5 a day could be pushed into poverty unless governments take dramatic action.
