【明報專訊】FROM production to harvest and storage to distribution, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought into the spotlight uneasy aspects we have overlooked about the food system. Following various lockdown and border control measures, France has seen a major shortage in seasonal farm labour mostly from Eastern Europe. As these workers make up two-thirds of the country's usual harvesting force, acres of fresh fruit and vegetables will be left to rot if the manpower shortage isn't curbed in a timely manner. This has led to a mass panic over a potential food shortage of fresh produce.
