【明報專訊】THE LONG SPELL of unbroken silence was finally fractured as the Great Man reached down beside his desk and picked up his heavy leather briefcase. It was packed, no doubt, with unpublished pages from a new manuscript. Better yet, maybe it was stuffed with the page proofs of a new book just arrived back from his publisher, pristine pages heavy with the smell of ink and ready to be corrected and revised. Perhaps he was about to honour them with a reading?
